Before Endodontic Treatment

This procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. There are usually no restrictions after the procedure concerning driving or returning to work. An endodontist is available at all times should a problem arise after your treatment.

Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

Please eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable. A portion of your mouth will be numb when you leave our office. We will ask you to avoid chewing until the local anesthetic wears off, so that you don’t accidentally chew your lip, cheek or tongue. Additionally, we will ask that you chew on the other side of your mouth for at least 2 days to avoid traumatizing the treatment area.

If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use prophylactic antibiotics to pre-medicate because of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), hip or knee replacement (artificial joints) and cardiac conditions including rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your treatment appointment. If there is a question, please call our office in advance.
